  • "This document provides abstracts of projects participating in the Educational Partnerships Program, which is authorized by the Educational Partnerships Act of 1988. The purpose of the legislation is to encourage the creation of alliances between public schools or institutions of higher education and the private sector. The legislation also requires partnerships to provide an increasing share of project costs from nonfederal funds. The projects, each of which works with a variety of partners, include school districts, universities, museums, nonprofit organizations, community and social-service agencies, parents' organizations, and state education agencies. The abstracts of 29 projects contain information on the following: funding sources; participants; the target student population and project focus; project objectives; project description and activities; products/materials developed; project evaluation plan; a contact person; and the U.S. Department of Education/Office of Educational Research and Improvement (ED/OERI) project officer. Information is also provided on the Educational Partnerships Program Evaluation and Documentation Project, a 5-year study that began on October 1, 1991, to document and evaluate the Educational Partnerships Program.
