John Rosbrugh was born in 1714 in Scotland. He married Sarah in about 1733. They emigrated and settled in New Jersey. He married Jane Ralston, daughter of James Ralston in about 1766. They had five children. He died in 1777 while serving as a chaplain in the Continental Army.
