1636-1675 Early history of Springfield

This anniversary address includes a short history of the 17th century conflict between the settlers of Springfield, Massachusetts and their Native American neighbors. The attack came from the Native Americans on October 5, 1675, and nearly all of the buildings in the settlement were burned, with only a few residents escaping to a nearby fortified blockhouse.
