Jim Grant, range boss of the Swinging J, was in Lafe Haskins' way, threatening the elaborate scheme Haskins had conceived when he learned the Joel Collison was leaving. So Haskins planned to kill Grant, rustle the cattle, and outsmart the law, but cows cannot swim!
