The British National Health Service policy trends and their implication for education

The opening section of the document provides a brief perspective of the National Health Service (nhs) in England and Wales, which forms a background for the discussion presented in the rest of the report. The second section, Retrospect, gives a historical survey of the evolution of the nhs from the previous health care supply system, with responsibility placed at the regional and local levels, and maintaining the strong emphasis on general practice. Section Three, Prospect, considers current reforms in the nhs, including discussion of the aims of the reformed service, current strategies for change, and significant omissions from the general strategy. Section Four, Horizons of Quality, focuses on the implications of the concepts of quality and accountability on the people and institutions involved in the nhs and on future policy formation and planning.
