Manual and automatic parking meters are described. Parking meters may be located at the curb or in off-street-parking facilities. The great bulk of curb parking meters is placed in the commercial district. Community attitudes toward meters are discussed. Costs of administration of the parking meter program and income from meters are analyzed. The movement to place commercial advertising on parking meters is discussed.
