Flora MacDonald (1722-1790) was the daughter of Ranald Macdonald, son of Angus, younger of Milton. She acted as the protectorate of Prince Charles and aided in his escape to France. She is considered the heroine of that historical era. She and her husband immigrated to North Carolina, but returned to Syke and settled at Kinsburgh where they both died.
