Anfang der 90er Jahre begann Frank Schätzing, Novellen und Satiren zu schreiben. 1995 erschien sein erstes Buch, der Mittelalterroman 'Tod und Teufel', der vom Start weg ein Bestseller wurde. Auch seine Nachfolge-Werke überzeugten die Kritiker. Für seine schriftstellerische Arbeit erhielt er den "KölnLiteraturpreis 2002""
