The maiden voyage of Endeavour "Houston-- I think we've got a satellite"

Contains the original NASA film documenting mission STS-49, the first voyage of space shuttle Endeavour in 1991. Crew members Capt. Dan Brandenstein, Kevin Chilton, Tom Akers, Richard Hieb, Bruce Melnick, Kathryn Thornton and Pierre Thuot had as their primary mission goal the repair of a wiring error that had left the INTELSAT satellite in an unsatisfactory orbit. They had great difficulty capturing INTELSAT and finally undertook a daring three-man EVA to grab it by hand; this was the longest spacewalk ever at eight and a half hours. The mission was extended an extra day to complete the second mission objective, the evaluation of equipment and techniques for constructing Space Station Freedom. More spacewalks took place on this mission than on any other one before.
