"Diese Arbeit schlieBt sich an unsere frUheren Arbeiten [1,2] an und fUhrt die dort begonnenen Untersuchungen fort. In [2] haben wir mit Hilfe des Satzes von Trotter Saturationssatze, d.h. Satze Uber die optimale Approximationsordnung, bewiesen. Wir haben die Anwendung dieser approximationstheoretischen Ergebnisse auf die Bernstein-Polynome und die Szasz-Mirakyan-Operatoren disku tiert und in [1] auch die Favard-Operatoren im Rahmen dieser Theorie untersucht. In der vorliegenden Arbeit geht es uns urn einen weiteren Ausbau der Anwendung in der Approximationstheorie, namlich auf den Fall der nichtoptimalen Approximation. Nach einigen terminologischen Vorbereitungen in Abschnitt 1 dis kutieren wir im Abschnitt 2 zunachst den Satz von Trotter selbst. Der Vollstandigkeit halber geben wir im Abschnitt 2.1 eine Skizze des Beweises an, wobei wir uns urn eine maglichst klare und ein fache Darstellung des Beweisganges bemUhen wollen. Wir betrachten zunachst die kontinuierliche Version des Satzes. 1m Abschnitt 2.2 diskutieren wir die Entwicklung des Satzes und seiner Varian ten wobei wir die Arbeiten von Kato, Komura, Kurtz, Lax und Richtmyer, Neveu, Trotter und Yosida zum Vergleich heranziehen."
