Temperature, salinity and density atlas for Station 27

Station 27 is located about eight kilometres off St. John's harbour, Newfoundland, in 176 metres of water in the Avalon Channel. The oceanographic data set from this station is one of the most widely used time series in the north-west Atlantic for providing indices of ocean climate change and physical environmental influences on various aspects of the fisheries. This report provides an update of the time series and presents the data in a format suitable for general use. The time series covers 1946 to 2000 at standard water depths of near-surface to near-bottom. The data include monthly means of temperature, salinity, and density, as well as monthly statistical summaries (means, standard deviations, standard errors, and maximum & minimum values) for each water depth over the complete time period.
