ASCAP radio interview with Harold Arlen
Martin Bookspan interviews American popular music composer Harold Arlen. Arlen speaks about his life and career as a musical composer and songwriter. He discusses his work for the Cotton Club, a popular Harlem night club, as well as for Broadway musicals such as House of flowers (lyrics and book by Truman Capote) (1954), and Hollywood films; his well-known songs, including Get happy (1929) (lyrics by Ted Koehler), Over the rainbow (used for the MGM 1939 production of The Wizard of Oz), and Down with love.
