Discharged without honor the Brownsville raid

An account of the alleged attack on the downtown of Brownsville, Texas on the night of August 13-14, 1906 by soldiers of the black 25th United States Infantry stationed at Fort Brown which resulted in the largest summary dismissal in the history of the United States Army. The controversy surrounding this affray at Brownsville continues to this day as to whether black troops carried out this attack in retaliation for racial discrimination from local businesses or local citizens of Brownsville carried out a staged attack in order to banish black troops from the area.
