A judgment in stone

The Coverdales are cultivated and articulate people, living in the elegant Georgian setting of Lowfield Hall in Suffolk. The only flaw in their existence is their lack of an efficient housekeeper. When the stolid Miss Eunice Parchman is hired, that flaw is remedied, but in that moment the whole family is doomed.
