Abstract: A "how-to" guide presents recipes, menus, and meal plans, which incorporate the practical application of low intakes of salt, fat, sugar, and cholesterol for cardiac patients. Guidance is given on how to combine healthy cooking with tasty eating in the context of people living with coronary heart disease. The typical US diet is proposed as a cardiac risk factor. Advice also is provided for: permanently changing one's eating habits; reading and understanding food labels; restaurant eating for cardiac patients; reducing and controlling body weight; and meal preparations for company.
