Swift Thunder of the Prairie : an American adventure
The coming of the white men in ever-larger numbers via train has brought hardship to Little Star-Brother's tribe of Native Americans on the Great Plains in the late 1800s. The elders consider moving the tribe to new land, but the young people, eager to prove their bravery and skills as warriors, try to stop the train by placing a boulder on the tracks. It is only Little Star-Brother's warning that averts an accident and allows Mr. Pennybacker, the Indian agent, to make peace with the tribe. Little Star-Brother is rewarded with a ride on the train, which has adopted his name for it: "Swift Thunder of the Prairie."
