A twelve part series featuring the libraries of the modern presidents that are part of the presidential libraries system administered by the National Archives and Records Administration. Each presents an overview of the life and career of the president drawing from the film and sound recordings, letters, documents and artifacts held by the libraries. Library officials give guided tours of the libraries and respond to telephone calls and electronic mail. Richard Norton Smith, the series historian and consultant, participates from the studio in Washington, D.C.
