"Based on the successful 2008 novel by Greg Kincaid, this heart-warming TV movie is destined to become a seasonal holiday classic. It tells the story of George McCray (Bruce Greenwood), who refuses to buy a dog for his special needs son, Todd (Noel Fisher), fearing that he would not be able to care for it. 20 year-old Todd is known for his love of animals, and the family's Kansas farm seems the perfect home for pets, but George is adamant: "This is no place for a dog. They are just a distraction". However, thanks to a helpful word from his mother, Mary Ann (Linda Emond), Todd's persistence pays off.
