An increasing number of States and Territories have been revising or developing certification requirements for guidance workers as a result of study and recommendation by professional committees. To make these requirements effective, official action has been taken by Stage boards of education or by legislation. This bulletin is a revision of "Guide Lines," January 1956, published by the Office of Education. The data were supplied by State department of education officials. Some States, now engaged in a study of requirements for certification of guidance workers, may have revisions completed and adopted within the near future. Part 1 of this bulletin lists guidance workers certification by States--34 mandatory and 7 optional. Part ii lists certification of school psychologists, who are in some instances labeled counseling psychologists. [Best copy available has been provided.].
