This book provides students with a guide to the nature of intellectual history and its relationship to significant areas of academic endeavour, in addition to supplying an overview of the current state of research. Intellectual History is an increasingly important branch of historical studies, particularly in Britain and the United States, and this is the first published guide on the subject. This book provides the first comprehensive survey of recent research in Britain and North America concerned with Europe and the wider world from the Middle Ages to the end of the twentieth century.
