"The third International Conference on Comparative Physiology and Biochemistry in Africa was held in the Ithala Game Reserve, in the highlands of Zululand in South Africa. At Ntshondwe Camp, situated at the foot of the "Ngotshe" plateau ("a place to which when a man is gone there he can no longer be seen!"), the conference followed on the ethos of the first meeting held in Kruger National Park which has been embodied in subsequent ICCPB in Africa meetings. The objective was to bring together International Delegates in a special and secluded corner of Africa for a week of relaxed and contemplative discussion of adaptive animal physiology and biochemistry, and to view it first hand!"--Preface.
