The Bells history of Shenandoah Valley, VA and Knox County, TN

There were four distinct Bell families that appear to have settled in early Augusta County, Virginia. These families were known locally as the Stone Church Bells, Long Glade Bells, North Mountain Bells and the South River Bells. While a number of descendants stayed in Virginia, there were those who traveled to Tennessee where a large number of Bells settled in Knox and Davidson counties. A smaller number of Bells settled in Blount and Washington counties. Descendants traveled further west and settled in Texas, Kansas and other parts of the United States.
