Compass. Four faces of ballet

Open All Close All

http://schema.org/description

  • "Conversations with four dancers, intercut with footage evoking the atmosphere of a dancer's life behind the scenes. This program was recorded during the National Ballet of Canada's first performances of Erik Bruhn's staging of La sylphide. Rudolf Nureyev and Bruhn alternated in the role of James ; Lynn Seymour and Lois Smith in the role of the Sylphide. They are seen warming up in costume and makeup, but the program does not contain performance footage. In the conversations, they share their reflections on various topics: demanding schedules, the physical risks of dancing, adapting to an aging body, making a commitment to dance, partnerships, rivalries, and attaining principal status."
