Once a mouse : a fable cut in wood

A story of a hermit who rescues a mouse from many predators. He changes the mouse many times and eventually he is chanaged into a royal tiger. All day long the tiger lorded it over all the other animals. The hermit missed nothing and decided the tiger should once again become a mouse. He was never seen again.
