Flo is initially presented as the stereotypical gangster's moll but soon assumes the proportions of a Lady Macbeth. Her dominance over Kelly suggests his impotence. Shading into black comedy, the pop Freudian hysteria and low key violence seems to grow out of the sleazy dime novel settings. Against the conventions of the genre Corman does follow the trajectory of the historical Kelly's career into anti-climax."@en
