"Choreographer Glen Tetley is interviewed about his life and philosophy. Presents excerpts from some of his performances."
""I have always wanted to be free," says Glen Tetley in this portrait, explaining why he never had an exclusive association with one particular dance company. As a result he led an extremely varied life in dance, working with many superior talents in many places and thereby enriching the repertoire of the great dance companies all over the world with his ballets. The film centers around his 1995 staging of one of his most beautiful and moving ballets Voluntaries (music by Poulenc) for Het Nationale Ballet in Amsterdam, but also offers excerpts from his other important works such as Field Figures, Ricercare, and Alice performed by the Royal Ballet (Nureyev), Nederlands Dance Theatre, and National Ballet of Canada. Glen Tetley speaks on and off camera about his inspiration, his sources, and his vision. GLEN TETLEY: Pierrot's Tower documents one of the most significant contributors to the dance in our time."@en
