Wickenden papers

Typescripts, galley proofs, correspondence, literary reviews, printed materials, theatrical photographs, one scrapbook and other materials documenting the literary career of Wickenden. The collection includes very little personal or family-related materials. Correspondence is chiefly with authors while he was an editor at Harcourt Brace & World; correspondents include Wendell Berry, Don Carpenter, John Deck, John McIntosh, Gore Vidal and Eudora Welty. Original manuscripts and galley proofs document the progress of Wickenden's novels including "Amazing Vacation," "Bright Blade," "Charmed Life," "Golden Dustman," "Heritage," "Red Carpet," "Running of the Deer," and "Turn Backward."
