Nutrient management planning

Nutrient management involves collecting and storing manure and applying it along with other fertilizers to cropland. Nutrient management planning -- accounting for and recording the nutrients available and determining which nutrients are needed as well as when and how much to apply -- may be required by legislation to address environmental concerns. This document discusses the principles of nutrient management then details the ten steps to making it work: set goals, take inventory, input and analyse data, interpret results, make decisions, act, keep records, monitor, adjust, and plan for the unexpected.
