For the first time ever, half of the world's population now live in cities. One of the most serious problems that the world will face in the next century is just how to manage this urban explosion. Using Mexico City, New York, Shanghai and Istanbul as examples, this award winning program looks at each city's struggle to combat water shortages, pollution and over-crowding to try and achieve a healthy and productive society.
