  • "Aicha, a Copenhagen high school senior from Turkey, wants to become a champion Kung Fu fighter, despite the obsticals in her way."
  • ""A unique genre piece in the vein of Billy Elliot and The Karate Kid; Fighter blends emotion, romance and action in an entirely new way. Arriving courtesy of award-winning director Natasha Arthy and with choreography by Xian Gao (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), this is the first Danish film to feature martial arts on a grand scale. Semra Turan stars as Aicha, a hot blooded Turkish-Danish teenage girl whose one great passion is kung fu. Her very conservative Turkish parents expect her to get good grades so she can get into medical school like her brother. But school fails to inspire her. She watches kung fu films constantly, mimicking the moves of the stars she idolises and training in a casual, girls-only after school club. When her hot temper gets her kicked off the club, she is forced to look elsewhere. Her school coach, recognising Aicha's natural talent, suggests that she enlist in a local, co-ed, elite level club - where the Iron Monkey himself, Xian Gao, is the sifu - to further her skills. There's just one problem: the club is mixed gender and Aicha's parents will never consent to their daughter training in a space shared with boys. To further complicate matters, a boy named Emil helps Aicha train for the club championship and they fall in love. Aicha is ultimately forced to decide who she is and what she wants, in spite of the monumental consequences for herself and her family"--Container."
