Captain Samuel Hale was the first of the Hales to cross the sea to New England. He was born in 1615 and came to America ca 1635. In 1642, he married Mary Smith, who was the daughter of the town minister. Samuel Jr. was the couplés second child. The family resided in Nethersfield, Connecticutt.
