Ancestors of Hamilton Fish and Julia Ursin Niemcewicz Kean, his wife

Jonathan Fish (1615/1616-ca. 1663), son of Thomas Fish and Mary Sprigge, immigrated between 1635 and 1637 from England to Lynn, Massachusetts with two younger brothers, Nathaniel and John. Jonathan later moved to Sandwich, Massachusetts and about 1659 to Newtown, Long Island, New York. Hamilton Fish (1808-1893), a direct descendant in the seventh generation, lived in New York and married Julia in 1836 near Elizabeth, New Jersey; Hamilton was active in state and national politics. Before and after Hamilton's generation, the Fish family often intermarried with Dutch immigrants and their descendants. Descendants and relatives of Jonathan lived in New England, New York, New Jersey and elsewhere.
