  • "Don Columbe Marmion (1958-1923) is generally considered to have been one of the greatest masters of the spiritual life of this century. His name is known throughout the world, and his writings have been translated into many languages. Born in Dublin, he was educated at the College of the Jesuit Fathers, and at the age of sixteen decided to train for priesthood. While returning form his ordination in Rome, he visited the Benedictine Monastery of Maredsous in Belgium, and in 1886 he went there as a monk. He later became Prior and Professor of Theology at Louvain, but returned to Maredsous in 1909 as Abbot. (Given by St Cecillia's Guild)."
