El Teatro campesino

A history of El Teatro Campesino (the theater of Mexican immigrant and Chicano farmworkers) from its beginnings in the fields of the San Joaquin Valley in California to its present role as theater committed to social change on a broad front. In promoting the solidarity of Chicanos, the theater presents plays and music stressing the relationship between economic advancement and politics. In this film the group performs musical protest numbers, a satirical skit concerning exploitation of Latin farm workers by corporate agriculture, and an excerpt from a full-length play concerning values of the La Raza movement.
