Forest refreshed : the autobiographical notes of a biologist

From his earliest days Dr. Hickin wanted to be an entomologist. The first part of his book is largely concerned with recollections of natural phenomena which provided a stimulus, and how he went about obtaining essential qualifications, academic and otherwise. He goes on to give an account of his single minded quest into the workings of nature as a professional entomologist. He describes Wyre Forest, on the Worcestershire Shropshire borders, where he learnt to love and understand the interlacing pattern of natural happenings, and where he has observed rare and exciting animals and plants.
