Ten-year-old Martin is lonely, restricted to his sickroom. His only communication with the outside world is through his dog. The dog brings him Miss Haight, a young schoolteacher who brightens his empty days, but Miss Haight is killed in an auto accident and the dog runs off and doesn't return.
