"Taking its inspiration from real life, Debajo del mundo is the story of a Polish working family whose relative calm is abruptly shattered by the invasion of the German army. In an act of desperation and survival, they defy German orders for all Jews to report and opt for the only alternative left to them--to move underground. For the next two years, their lives become a nightmare of crude underground apartments and inhuman living conditions. And always [they are] menaced by German soldiers, Polish collaborators, and illness.
