Samuel Koenig (ca.1704-1777/1789) immigrated from Europe to Berks County, Pennsylvania in 1744, and married Anna Yoder about 1750. "He was of the Amish faith as were a large number of his descendants. In fact, a large number of the present day Amish of Lancaster County are related rather closely to Samuel Koenig." (p. i). Descendants (chiefly spelling the surname King, although one family line retained Koenig) and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Montana, Oregon, California and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and elsewhere in Canada.
