The Gabriel hounds

The story is freely based on the accounts of the life of the English traveler Lady Hester Stanhope. Traveling in the Middle East, Christy Mansel runs into her second cousin Charles in Damascus and the pair decide to visit their great aunt, an eccentric recluse who lives in a crumbling palace in Lebanon. Odd even for their aunt's household the situation at the castle arouses the cousins' suspicions, and their investigation turns up a startling secret in the underground passages.
