Central America the burden of time

Presents the atonishing ancient city of Teotihuacan in Mexico, and the jungles of Guatemala and Honduras, hiding beneath their canopy the dramatic cities of Tikal and Copan. We learn of new interpretations of history which show that the Maya as well as the Aztecs practised large-scale human sacrifice. Although the conquest and enslavement of the native cultures by the Conquistadores resulted in the destruction of their cities and the death of millions of Indians, remarkably their culture endured and can still be found alive in the mountains of Guatemala.
