Jane an abortion service : a documentary

'Jane' was the name given to a Chicago-based women's health collective formed in 1969 to offer women safe, though illegal, abortions. Its members, few of them with formal training, performed 12000 abortions in four years before its key members were arrested in 1973. This documentary uses archival footage, personal documents and interviews to recapture the atmosphere of those dangerous times for women.

As Jane members describe finding feminism and clients describe finding Jane, archival footage and recreations mingle to depict how the repression of the early sixties and social movements of the late sixties influenced this unique group"--Container."@en
