The West of the imagination
Presents the story of the American West as America's national myth. From the myth of romantic Indians, larger-than-life heroes and villains, nature grander and fiercer then nature itself, of untold wealth and epic human endurance, the story sweeps from the path of Lewis and Clark to the westward surge in the mid-19th century and the opening of the West via the transcontinental railroad through to the saga of the working cowboy, movie cowboys, wild West show, and country singers to the West of today which remains the land of dreams and promise.
