Letter from General James Jackson to Georgia Governor George Handley dated April 11, 1788. Jackson requests more horsemen than he has been allotted due to skirmishes between settlers and Indians in the area of Effingham County, Georgia. Jackson encloses two letters to further his case with the Governor. One is from John Braddock dated April 1, 1788, telling of slaves killed, a girl taken, men shot, and property destroyed by Indians. The other is from Israel Bird to Jackson dated April 9, 1788, concerning a failed attack upon the Indians and supply issues.
