  • ""Morgan Delt is an eccentric and madcap London artist, who, though reared by his Marxist-minded mother to participate in the 'great revolution, ' has disappointed her by marrying into a wealthy family and spending most of his life in a world of fantasy. He particularly identifies with the gorilla, and at times lapses into mimicking gorilla behavior. Morgan, supposedly in Greece while his wife, Leonie, obtains a divorce, suddenly reappears on the day of the hearing and demands that Leonie return to him. Leonie, despite her deep affection for Morgan and his world, feels compelled to shed the bizarre role of playing Jane to his Tarzan and intends to marry the 'sensible' Charles Napier, an art dealer and friend of Morgan's. Undaunted by Leonie's decision, Morgan embarks on a diabolical campaign to win her back. He camps outside her house in her car, places a skeleton in her bed, wires the house so that the sound of a launching American rocket plays when Leonie and her fiancé embrace, draws and cuts hammer and sickle designs on her furnishings, seduces her during her moments of vulnerability, and plants a bomb under her bed to discourage her fiancé. The bomb explodes, shaking up Leonie's interfering mother. Between pranks, Morgan takes refuge with his mother, whose favorite diversion is to visit Karl Marx's tomb in Highgate Cemetery. Finally, aided by wrestler Wally Carver, Morgan abducts Leonie and takes her to a lake in Wales, but Leonie's parents rescue her, and Morgan is sent to prison. Released on the day Leonie and Charles are to marry, Morgan, who has been influenced by the movie King Kong, dons a gorilla suit; scales the walls of an apartment building; crashes bodily into the wedding reception; and succeeds only in setting his suit on fire. He escapes his pursuers by motorcycle and ends up in a rubbish heap, where he fantasizes that all the people with whom he has shared his life have come to execute him. Some time later Leonie, now pregnant, visits Morgan at a mental institution. She finds him busily engaged in planting a hammer-and-sickle-shaped flower garden.
