Report on the study of university policies on intellectual property
Abstract: "The purpose of the study was to identify issues which need to be considered by universities in establishing or upgrading policies regarding rights to intellectual property created by various members of the university community. A reading of a number of such policies reveals that there are many aspects in common, such as the treatment of intellectual property created while the work was funded by external sources. The main differences appeared in the treatment of non-supported, or internally supported, intellectual property. This study looks at the policies developed by various universities with regard to software, courseware, and related publications, and the issues raised by these policies."
