Shattered innocence the Fells Acres abuse case

In 1984 a five-year-old boy reported an incident at the Fells Acres Day Care Center in Malden, Mass. that was interpreted as possible sexual abuse. The school was shut down, and Gerald Amirault, Violet Amirault and Cheryl Amirault LeFave were arrested on abuse charges. Police believed that there had been ritual sexual abuse at Fells Acres. Children were repeatedly interviewed, and if they denied that anything had occurred, they were labeled "not ready to disclose." The defendants were convicted, but finally released years later when the investigation of the case was called into question and some believed that authorities had created a crime where none existed.
