The electric city--the Stehelins of New France : the fabulous true story of a legendary family who carved out of the forest wilderness a beautiful life and a prosperous business-- the saga of their struggles, loves, war and dispersal
Emile Charles Adolphe Stehelin (1837-1918) married Marie Therese Buisson in 1869, served in the Franco-Prussian War, and moved from Alsace to Gisors, France. His sons immigrated to New France, Nova Scotia, and the family immigrated to join them in 1896. Many of the descendants returned to fight for France in World War I and World War II. Descendants lived in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Ontario and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated to New York and elsewhere in the United States. One descendant became a ship captain of the American-Hawaiian Line (trading mostly from the Pacific coast to the Orient, often via Hawaii).
