Outlaw's promise : a western duo

  • "In "Tenkiller Flats," Hannah Bradford has written to Dave Keegan to inform him of his father's death and to let him know that the Lazy K Ranch is now his. Dave had left because his father agreed to join the Seevert syndicate. Pride Seevert of the Seven Diamond Ranch had gotten the ranchers in the valley to merge their cattle for shipment with the Seven Diamond herd. The Seeverts would get a percentage once the cattle were sold. It was Dave Keegan's intention to dissolve that merger, which would be difficult -- and dangerous. "Outlaw's Promise" was Ray Hogan's last Western story. It tells the tale of Wayne Trevison, who is wanted in Montana for killing a lawman. He must keep his identity a secret, which is going to be particularly hard to do when, in his last will and testament, Tom Washburn leaves him in charge of the Triangle W Ranch. Texas is big -- maybe even big enough for Trevison to pull it off. The bigger problems are Washburn's own sons: Virgil, an intensely jealous man, and Troy, a wastrel who isn't above rustling from the Triangle W to feed his gambling habit."
