Boyhood and baptism

The seeds are sown for Christ's future mission and the inevitable conflict with Judean factions and Roman authorities. Jesus, the boy, avidly studies the Hebrew faith, and at age 12, amazes the elders in the Temple with His wisdom. Time passes, and John the Baptist denounces King Herod Antipas for his sins. Jesus, knowing that it is time for Him to begin preaching God's word, asks John to baptize Him. A sign from heaven confirms Jesus as God's Son.
