Alfredo Sbisa is a shy young man, who after a long courtship succeeds in marrying the girl of his dreams, Maria Rosa. Married bliss however eludes Alfredo as his wife's pregnancy, the arrival of the in-laws and subsequent departure of his father prove almost too much for the young husband to cope with. To add insult to injury he is banished to the cellar when Maria Rosa's mother announces that his bride must have the marital bed all to herself.
